Today Should Be Interesting!

So this afternoon I am spending a couple hours working at the Folsom Street Fair, our company has a couple booths and I volunteered to help out. Lots of leather and much more! I am sure I will have more to say when I get home later today.

Love, Janis

Yesterday was Lyndsey's birthday day. Brunch, shopping and we ended the day with a performance of Love, Janis. Amazing and moving!! I had an appreciation of Janis Joplin prior to this, but now I am fan and more. Her music was deep, emotional and moving. You could really feel her pain and agony during the second act. The spoken dialogue was her real letters written home to her family. What a way to get inside her. The most moving moment was the scene where she died. The live, onstage, performing Janis, sang to the lost, alone and little girl Janis. Janis singing to herself, the emotion of the song really came out.

Anyway, GO SEE THIS SHOW!

Now I am off to buy some Janis Joplin music.

Stone In Your Heart

Molly Hatchet Stone In Your Heart lyrics

Is this how it ends?

Wer'e strangers again

It's over but you won't explain

No kiss no goobye, not one final lie

Just cold to the bone from the ice's that's runnin' through your veins

You have stone in your heart.

Chorus:

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na stone in your heart

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na

What is keepin' us apart?

Stone in your stone heart.

Don't you recall the fire and all

I want you in my arms every night

But now you forget

No passion,no sweat

You poured out your love

And your'e tellin' me your well is dry

You have stone in your heart.

Chorus:

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na stone in your heart

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na

What is keeping us apart?

Stone in your heart.

Run away and hide

Keep it inside

Make believe it never happened

All your'e goona do is keep fooling you

Some day you'll find love's been passin' you by.

Will you or fight?

Let's do it right

I'm gonna get it over now

But no feelin' left

No pride to protect

You don't want my love

I don't need you in a wedding gown

You have stone in your heart

Rasmus and Kill Hannah

Drove up to Santa Rosa last night to catch The Rasmus, Kill Hannah and Lostprophets in concert at the Last Day Saloon. Great show! I have been waiting a long time to see The Rasmus live and it was worth the wait. I just wish they could have played longer. Hope they come back soon. Kill Hananh were also great. I have missed them the last few times they cam through San Francisco. I am planning to catch them in October when they play in San Jose with HIM. After the show we got a room at Hotel La Rose, a very nice old style, classic hotel. Do yourself a favor, go out and get the latest albums by both The Rasmus and Kill Hannah.

Back home

Back home from Hawaii, what an amazing trip! Five days in Oahu! Spent one day over on the big island touring the Volcano National Park. My new picture is taken on a lava flow. It is so hard to describe what it is like to walk on old lava flows. Very hard to top something as exciting as that, but swimming with sharks did. Saturday we spent a half hour in a shark cage three miles off the North Shore of Oahu surrounded by 15-20 sharks, 10-12 feet long. Total rush! Just before leaving the cage one shark bit through one of the ropes connecting the cage to the boat and got hooked, the shark then started to pull the cage under on one side. We weren't too scared, but the crew on the boat wanted to get us out pretty fast. I will post some photos later this week.

Tomorrow is day one at my new gig with Gamelink. I am very excited about this job and company.

Hawaii Next Week

Damn, why are the W and Q keys right next to each other on the keyboard! I meant to close a window in my browser by hitting CMD W, and hit Q instead... which quits the application! It quit before I could save my blog entry, so now I have to remember what I typed and do it again.

Next Wednesday I am off to Oahu, Hawaii for a short vacation before I start my new gig at Gamelink. Lyndsey is going along and it is going to be an amazing trip! We are going to fly over to the Big Island and spend the day touring the volcano -- which I guess just started erupting alot again. Another day we are heading up to the North Shore to swim with sharks. Well swim in a shark cage with sharks, but that is going to be wild crazy!

A couple very cool shows are coming to the Bay Area in the next couple months. Up first is Kill Hannah, The Rasmus and LostProphets. I love both Kill Hannah and The Rasmus and have been waiting a couple years for The Rasmus to tour the US. Then comes a Halloween show with Kill Hannah, LostProphets, Papa Roach and HIM.

9/11 = Inside Job

So last night I was clicking and a program on AccesSF called 9/11 = Inside Job caught my eye. I know you can't believe everything you read or see, but in this day and age you have to remember you can't also believe everything you see or read from the government. This program had ALOT of interesting observations about 9/11, all pointing to it being a inside job by our government. Do I believe it? Let's just say would I be shocked to learn that a attack was created to provide an excuse to goto war? No. I think the lesson is to educate yourself on those things that are important to you and be open to hearing all sides. Remember, the truth is out there.

Things Ain't That Bad

You know, things aren't that bad. What things? Whatever things that are going on in your life. Be happy and know that it could be alot worse. Be thankful, but always go out and get what you want and don't let anybody tell you no. Your life is your life, nobody elses. You want it, go get it!

Sunday Bloody Sunday

I love mashups and I just heard this one earlier this week on Live 105. It is by RX and it is George Bush singing Sunday Bloody Sunday. Give it a listen, great job!

This is just weird

The only thing you can count on is change.

So life just has a way of surprising you, throwing you a curve ball, keeping you on the edge. Yesterday FaceTime had a companywide staff reduction and I was part of the reduction. In a odd way I had a smile on my face as I was told the news. Nobody likes looking for work, but the light at the end of the tunnel excites me, what does life have in store for me this time. I know it will be great, exciting and even better. But, the trip through the tunnel to the light is just a bitch. There is a greater will controlling our lives and we just have to have some trust and belief.

The times they are a changing!

42, 25, It's All Just a Number...

and just a state mind. Birthdays are all about fun and this was FUN. A concert on Friday that rocked! Monday dinner at the House of Seafood and Jazz for some GREAT cajun from NOLA. Can you say Alligator! The live jazz was styling and grooving. Dinner was followed up with more drinks at the Saloon and some live Rockabilly. The best part... dinner and drinks with someone who is just coooooool, and looked stunning in their vintage black dress!

Anyway, who gives a F about a number. It's what is in your heart. You can either live life or just watch it.

Angels & Airwaves Very Impressive

Took a few days to catch up after the show... birthday celebration (will get to that later!).

Angels & Airwaves were the highlight of the concert. An incredibly tight performance, amazing stage show and great stage presence by Tom DeLong. You can easily see the U2 influence in the band's sound, songs and message. I will be honest all their songs had a similar sound, that "Edge" guitar sound. But, I didn't care... they were great songs. Go out and buy the album, and catch a show if you can... I know I will see them again!

Taking Back Sunday, Angels & Airwaves, Head Automatica, The Subways

Celebrating my birthday by heading down to San Jose with Lyndsey this afternoon to see the Taking Back Sunday, Angels & Airwaves, Head Automatica, The Subways concert at the SJ Events Center. Decided to get a hotel in San Jose so we don't have to drive home tonight. I think I will continue celebrating my birthday by getting a tattoo this weekend. I am going to head over to Lyle Tuttle's on Saturday and give them a couple ideas and see what they can come up with. I loved the cross they did, so I am sure they will create something cool.

Netscape Buying Digg Content Creators

Background on this is available at Revenews.com.

Is this good, bad? Will it work?

As a marketing person I tip my hat to Netscape for trying something just a bit different to win the war with Digg. Is it proper? Maybe not, but this is a business and integrity won't buy you groceries. Will the content creators say no to this offer. It wouldn't surprise me if many said yes. If you could make $1000 a month, $12,000 a year, for just reposting news to another site would you? I know I would.

Will it work? Probably not. Only because they can pay the top content creators on Digg now, but if they leave they will just be replaced with someone else.

I think the Netscape vs. Digg war is only just heating up.
